LSPS has been the home of an effective training program for Lutheran pastors with a heart for mission since 1974. LSPS celebrates the ministry of nearly 185 alumni serving all parts of the United States (including Alaska), Mexico, Chile, the Middle East and other parts of the world.

LSPS professors have experience both as pastors in congregations and as professional educators and scholars. LSPS is accredited through Wartburg Theological Seminary and is an extension of the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago as well. We are located on the campus of the Seminary of the Southwest (SSW, an Episcopal Seminary) just three short blocks from the campus of the University of Texas.  We maintain close ties with SSW and serve and work together in a call to common mission.
